PRESIDENT ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Troy Cline PhD ~~~~~~~~~~~~	Professor Chico State University tdcline@csuchico.edu Troy teaches medical bacteriology and virology as a full Professor at Chico State University. His research with undergraduate and graduate students focuses on surveillance of avian influenza viruses in wild waterfowl. In his spare time, Troy supports his sons’ participation in marching band, jazz band, and concert band, enjoys yard work, baking, travel, and is always looking for an excuse to visit Disneyland.
PRESIDENT-ELECT/VICE PRESIDENT ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tom Sidebottom ~~~~~~~~~~~~	Founder Regulatory Science Consulting LLC. tom@regsciences.net Tom joined the private sector in 2020 as a regulatory consultant and in 2022 established his company Regulatory Science Consulting LLC. He has over a 32-year federal career with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), where he was the Director of the San Francisco Laboratory for 11 years. Tom earned his B.S. degree in Entomology from the University of Maryland and has extensive knowledge and experience with FD&C Act regulatory testing and compliance inspections on a broad range of regulated products manufactured and imported into the United States. He is an advocate for change and is a promoter of systems thinking, understanding risks and adopting standards to establish regulatory compliance. When not focused on consulting, Tom enjoys spending time with family and friends, fishing, gardening, nature, traveling, and playing pickle-ball. He is an avid entomologist and for more than 35 years has shared his passion through educational outreach to schools, local communities, and students of any age.
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Elizabeth Antaki-Zukoski MS, PhD ~~~~~~~~~~~~	Associate Biosafety Officer Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory emantaki@formerstudents.ucdavis.edu Lizzy is currently an Associate Biosafety Officer for the Lawrence Livermore National Lab. She has been there for four years and is loving the research diversity that is being conducted at the laboratory. Outside of work, she loves hiking with friends and spending time with her husband and potbelly pig, Shorty.
SECRETARY ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jashwin Sagoo ~~~~~~~~~~~~	PhD Student UC Santa Cruz Jashwin Sagoo is a PhD student in Microbiology & Environmental Toxicology at UC Santa Cruz, where he investigates the structure–function mechanics of the Helicobacter pylori flagellar motor in the Ottemann Lab. He has 8+ years of microbiology and biotech experience, including roles at Zymergen and Resilience, spanning strain development, optimization, and characterization. An ASM Undergraduate Research Capstone Awardee and ASM Peggy Cotter Award recipient, Jashwin is proficient in molecular biology and bioinformatics, from Geneious and NGS to CRISPR-based genome editing strategies. He is driven to advance genome engineering and translational biotechnology through rigorous, collaborative science that delivers practical solutions to global challenges.
TREASURER ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Barbara Haller MD, PhD ~~~~~~~~~~~~	Director of the Clinical Laboratory Zuckerberg SF General Hospital Barbara.Haller@ucsf.edu Barbara is the Director of the Clinical Laboratory at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and was also the Director of the Clinical Microbiology Lab at ZSFG for 20 years. She wishes to continue to support the mission of ASM and the Northern California Branch of ASM (NCASM) in order to continue to promote the field of Clinical Microbiology, increase communication and support for clinical microbiologists, and encourage student participation in Microbiology in the region. She is also interested in evaluation of new microbiology test methodologies
COUNCILOR ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hamida Nusrat PhD, PHM, SM(ASCP), MLS(ASCPi)  ~~~~~~~~~~~~	Faculty Lecturer CLS Program SF State University hnusrat@sfsu.edu Hamida additionally works as a PHM Specialist and Trainer at the California Department of Public Health, where she teaches, trains, and mentors PHM interns. She is also an Adjunct Professor at UC Berkeley. Her interests include development of new methods for diagnosis of infectious diseases, disease prevention, and vaccine design. She enjoys outdoors, traveling, scouting, and community service.
